Verapamil Injections
Verapamil is a calcium channel blocker that is more commonly used to treat high blood pressure. Verapamil injections into Peyronie’s plaques can reduce pain and help stop the formation of scar tissue, particularly early on in the condition. Verapamil injections are commonly used in conjunction with penile traction devices.
Patients typically undergo a series of six verapamil injections, each injection separated by 2 weeks. After each injection, patients should refrain from sexual activity for 24 hours. After a course of 6 injections, some men will not require any further treatment while others will need a second round of injections or surgical correction.
